The MGM Symphony Orchestra led by Johnny Green plays Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s “Capriccio Italien”. The camera pans over Green’s shoulder to the brass section during the stately introductory refrain. The strings then take over with the piece’s main theme, followed by the entrance of the winds. The entire orchestra continues with the many joyous Italian folk inspired idioms of the piece. Green conducts the orchestra with gusto to the piece’s triumphant conclusion. |
